Das Puppenspiel Puppet Theater has an immediate opening and is seeking an Intern/Actress/Puppeteer.  The position is full-time with a stipend for the 2007/08 Season (October-May). Renewable contract. Emphasis on quality theatre, using 'bunraku' style puppetry, mime, mask, live acting.  There is a policy and philosophy of fully integrating the intern into the creative and touring process with 2-3 other full-time puppeteers, rehearsing and performing all shows in repertoire throughout a regional and national touring radius.  There is also an opportunity to hone (with assistance)  skills in puppet making, construction, and repairs. In addition to training and touring experiences, a weekly stipend is also paid, and all housing and per diem expenses are paid when touringInterns also have the option, pending mid-year review, to return as full-time puppeteers the following year. Applicants should be mature, versatile, enthusiastic, have professional performance standards/training, and able/willing to tour. Puppetry experience helpful, but not required as training will be provided.  Dance experience/training is a plus.  Additional information regarding Das Puppenspiel is also available at the Companys web site at www.puppets.org

 Das Puppenspiel is currently entering its 34th Season, and has performed for over 2,400,000 children and adults in over 44 States, Canada, and Mexico.  Das Puppenspiels work has earned a respected national profile for its classical puppetry and high quality childrens programming.  Based on the quality of its work, the Company has received grant support from New York State Council on the Arts, the Mid-Atlantic Arts Consortium, the international puppetry organization Union Internationale de la Marionette, and is one of only a handful of puppet theaters to receive recognition and support from the Theater Program of the National Endowment for the Arts.   Performances in touring repertoire include varied types of puppets, including a modified bunraku style, body puppets, rod, hand, marionette, shadow, mask, and others. Typical performance venues include theaters,  Civic Centers, arts councils, schools, museums, festivals, and with live orchestras.  Past presenters have included the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Wolf Trap Foundation, Dartmouth College, Fairbanks Concert Association, the Kennedy Center.
