WHAT SHALL WE EAT?
The only meal included in your registration is brunch on Sunday. Other meals on your own. There are 2 restaurants on site: a buffet-style restaurant (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and a café (with sandwiches, soups, salads and snacks)--and many great restaurants (from fast food to organic gourmet!) are within an easy drive!

WHAT SHALL WE DO AND WHEN ARE WE DOING IT?

EXTRA SPECIAL BONUS: visit the Mousetrap Puppet Theatre in Shipshewana, IN on your way to Potlatch! Any time on Friday up until dinner time: 225 N Harrison St., Ste. 304, Shipshewana, IN 46565, phone 260-768-4968, www.mousetraptheater.org

Potlatch is laid back and comfortably unpredictable--so the schedule will be handed to you at the registration table upon your arrival and will be subject to change from that point on! Here‘s how it may look:
FRIDAY NIGHT

  • Registration will begin late-afternoon (4:30ish) and continue until 8pm or so
  • The Ice-breaker starts at 8pmish and we'll enjoy a performance after that
  • Folks can then retreat to the campfire for fellowship and snacks (NOTE: bring snacks and drinks and warm clothes to wear--musical instruments and ghost stories welcome!)
SATURDAY

  • Registration re-opens in the a.m.
  • Workshops (2 sessions--one at 9:30ish and one at 11ish) will start the day
  • After lunch, we’ll enjoy the exhibit and the trading post (and the Guild presidents will meet, too)
  • Then comes a puppet show
  • The regional meeting and election happens next
  • After dinner we’ll enjoy a puppet parade and reception to celebrate the 20th Potlatch!
  • AND NOW...Potpourri!
SUNDAY

  • “Punch Brunch” winds up the weekend--food at 9ish and a P & J show at 10:15ish!

WORKSHOPS SO FAR INCLUDE giant/parade puppets, photography, youth puppetry, Punch & Judy professors, "how to design puppets when you're unskilled" and cardboard props and scenery!

PERFORMANCES SO FAR INCLUDE David Roz and his Three Billy Goats Gruff, Nancy Sander's The Pied Piper of Hamelin, Guy Thompson's Stringling Brothers Circus and a Punch & Judy show by Jim Rose AS WELL AS a giant puppet parade!

WHAT DO WE NEED TO KNOW/DO/BRING?
Following are notes/messages from the Guilds about their specific areas of “duty”: EXHIBIT (PGNO): Bring puppets, stages, pictures, whatever! We’ll help you display them to share with Potlatch puppet pals.
ICE BREAKER (Columbus): The CPG is requesting that each guild present a 5 minute skit that involves puppets that are made from brooms, and/or mops. Brooms and mops can be enhanced by the use of hats, scarves, costumes, etc. CAN BRING IDEAS AND MATERIALS AND CREATE ON THE SPOT-- no preparation necessary (it's an icebreaker, so the process is the point!)
POTPOURRI (Detroit): Potpourri is your chance to try out a new puppet idea or an old chestnut. Be short and sweet. Keep it under 5 minutes. We will have a signup sheet waiting for you when you arrive.
TRADING POST (Chicago): Set up will begin after the workshops on Sat a.m. until the Trading Post opens (around 1:30 Sat.). Bring your puppet-related items to sell: puppets, puppet materials, books, scripts, posters, jewelry, pictures, photos--you name it! Prepare & bring your own cash box.
